Supervised Visitation

  • Services are for families who are concerned about a child's safety during visits with the parent who does not have custody.
  • Services can be ordered by the Court of Common Pleas, requested through an attorney, or you can call Family Service directly.
  • Each parent (both custodial and non-custodial) must contact Family Service at 397-5241 and complete a phone intake with the intake specialist.
  • Separate assessment appointments will be arranged for the non-custodial and custodial parties to come to our office and complete an assessment with our staff. Following the completion of all of the required assessment appointments, Family Service will determine if the Supervised Visitation Program is an appropriate service for the family.
  • The custodial parent provides transportation for the child to and from the visit. S/he does not have contact with the visiting parent.
  • Prior to custody conferences or hearings, a Visitation Summary Report is sent to the court and attorneys.
  • Visits are supervised by staff or trained community volunteers. Volunteers receive specialized training and supervision.
  • Fees are based on family size and income.
  • All visitation fees are paid by the visiting parent.
  • Visitations are held once a week for one hour at Family Service.
  • Security measures are in place at the visitation site and include security officers and metal detecting wands.
